Precision from Above, Excellence on the Ground.

Based in Southampton, StrataGrid emerged from a passion for merging high-end drone technology with the rigorous demands of industrial data collection. We recognised a vital need in the UK market for aerial services that transcend basic photography, delivering instead the high-fidelity mapping and technical reporting required for modern infrastructure.

The StrataGrid Story
I built StrataGrid to provide commercial drone services that industries can actually trust.
My background is not in aviation or engineering. I built my career from the ground up in healthcare. I started on the frontline as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), and through years of studying, passing exams, and working long shifts, I qualified as a Registered Nurse. Working in acute clinical settings teaches you very quickly that there is no room for error. You learn to assess risks constantly, follow strict safety protocols, and do your job accurately when the pressure is on.
Eventually, the long hours, physical toll, and systemic pressures of the medical field led to burnout. I knew I needed to step away for my own health and find a new career. While taking time out, I bought a drone as a hobby. Getting outdoors and flying gave me a break, but I soon realized the commercial side of aviation was exactly what I was looking for.
Flying a drone commercially is not about taking nice photos. It is about site safety, airspace management, and hazard mitigation. I realized it required the exact same discipline, procedural mindset, and risk assessment I used every day on the hospital ward.
The commercial drone and geospatial industry is heavily male-dominated. To stand out and build a serious business, I knew I had to rely on the same work ethic and dedication to professional development that got me through my nursing degree.
I committed to industry-leading training, securing my A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) and Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC01). Following this, StrataGrid was granted a full Operational Authorisation by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), allowing us to operate legally in congested and complex airspaces. Every flight we take is also covered by full commercial public liability insurance.
Today, StrataGrid uses enterprise-level drones equipped with RTK positioning and thermal sensors to capture data for construction, engineering, and asset management clients.
Our services include:

  • Aerial Mapping & Topography: 2D orthomosaics and 3D terrain models for accurate site planning and volumetric analysis.

  • Structural & Asset Inspections: Safe, close-proximity visual and thermal assessments of roofs, facades, and infrastructure.

  • Specialized Spatial Data: Reliable data collection to help engineers and project managers make informed decisions.

When you hire StrataGrid, you are hiring an operator who puts safety and accuracy before anything else. We manage the airspace and the risk, so you get the exact data you need.

Our work is built on three principles:
Precision — engineered workflows and accurate outputs
Safety & compliance — every operation planned and documented
Continuous improvement — ongoing training and evolving capability

Professional Credentials
I hold the A2CofC, GVC, LiDAR Training, RTK, PDRA01, FPV Training, and CAA Certification. My capabilities include RTK‑enabled mapping, photogrammetry, and industry‑standard data processing, ensuring every project meets modern surveying and compliance standards.
